According to Kaspersky, StealFox is a newly identified malware that infiltrates computers running Windows OS by targeting a driver named WinRing0.sys
, which then allows hackers to control the system. Once inside, StealFox can silently collect browsing history, stored passwords, and credit card details, sending these back to hackers without the user’s knowledge. It has already been detected targeting users in multiple countries.
Hackers are spreading StealFox by offering free versions of popular software such as Foxit PDF Editor, JetBrains, and AutoCAD. The fake software lures users into downloading the malware, which immediately starts gathering information secretly. Cybersecurity experts strongly advise against downloading software from unknown sources or individuals, as this is one of the main methods hackers use to spread malicious programs like StealFox.
